Why need to change MX record

MX stands for Mail exchange. First lets talk about why we need to change MX entries. If you are using 2 different servers one for hosting and one for email in this case you need to change MX entries to point your email server. For instance you are using hostgator for your web hosting and gmail (Google Apps) for emails. You need to add MX entries of google apps to your hosting server Google apps will provide you their own MX entries. In this case you have to replace the MX entries in you hosting server (hostgator).  In this article we talk about How to change MX entries in Godaddy and hostgator. 1- Login into your Cpanel, scroll down and locate MX entry. you will find MX entries in mail section. Click on MX entries.

2- Enter MX entries one by one. Priority and destination as mentioned in below image.

3- Google apps MX entries: If you are using Google apps you may use following MX entries for google apps.

How to change MX entries in Godaddy

1- Login into your cpanel, scroll down and locate MX entries under email section. Click on it. If you have multiple domains then first select domain which you want to change MX entries.

2- Add new MX entries one by one priority and destination as mentioned in below image.
